May I Borrow Your Eyes? – NaPoWriMo 17

May I borrow your eyes?
My old ones are done.
Both got burned out yesterday
While staring at the sun.

They told me not to look too long.
They said “That can’t be good!”
But I stared and stared and stared
and stared and stared and stared and stood.

I stood there many hours-
Then decided one day in May-
I’d stand there looking, staring up
Until my hair turned gray.

But now my eyes quit working-
May I borrow your eyes?
I’ll give them back when I’m done
I hope they’re the right size.
