As sure as goldfish like to swim
And monkeys like to climb,
Simon Grimes will find a way today
To rhyme nine times.
He’ll squeeze a rhyme in early
Before the sun has yet to wake,
And if he finds he has more time
A second rhyme he’ll make.
The third and forth come easily,
The fifth one takes some time,
But Simon Grimes will not give up
Until he finds a rhyme.
He’ll take a walk for his sixth
And find it on the path.
Six rhymes down – three to go-
Simon knows his math.
When the sun begins to fade
His seventh finds its way,
And when the darkness floods the sky,
His eighth he’ll loudly say.
But Simon Grimes will not find nine
‘Fore drifting off to sleep.
He’ll crawl in bed and shroud his head
Then Simon Grimes will weep.
